Das WA-251 wurde entwickelt um einer neuen Generation von Recording-Künstlern ein klassisches Mikrofon-Design zu einem erschwinglichen Preis anzubieten. Es wurde viel Zeit aufgewendet verschiedene Vintage-Originalmikrofone zu hören, um festzustellen, was die Leute an ihnen mögen und warum. Man fand heraus wie verschiedene Arten von Komponenten den Klang beeinflussen und wie man dem Mikrofon WA-251 eine Signatur verleiht, die eine Hommage an den Vintage-Klassiker darstellt, aber auch für sich allein steht.
